MGS3-era Snake to return, lore buffs go crazy.
I'll admit to feeling underwhelmed by the prospect of another Metal Gear Solid title, but credit where credit's due - the fifth game's first trailer, revealed at GDC 2013 in San Francisco yesterday, is gosh-darned impressive. It recycles and contextualises elements of the Phantom Pain trailer (now confirmed to be an MGS5 teaser, obvs) from last year, and has an utterly gorgeous soundtrack.

Alcoholic beverages have been angrily dashed to the ground tonight in unprecedented quantities as games critics both online and in person at the Battlefield 4 event in San Francisco expressed their shock and outrage that Battlefield 4 would be basically the same as Battlefield 3. I just cant understand it, sobbed one games writer, twisting their fedora in their hands in disbelief. They had the chance to make something completely untested, and instead they opted to go for something that was guaranteed to make them a whole pile of money.

EA also announces Plants vs. Zombies Adventures for Facebook.

Popcap has announced that will launch early this summer.

The follow-up to the perennially successful Plants vs. Zombies was due to be released later in spring, though Popcap has still not specified what platforms the sequel will be available on. The original Plants vs. Zombies has sprouted up on PC, XBLA, PlayStation 3, Vita, DS, iOS, Android, and Windows Phone 7.

Developer Popcap is also working on a Facebook spin-off for the series called , which is launching now as a limited closed beta ahead of an official release later in spring.

Curt Bererton, head of developer PopCap's San Francisco office, calls Plants vs. Zombies Adventures "a highly accessible, zombie-zapping adaptation of the original game designed specifically for Facebook.#148;

The Facebook game will offer up new types of zombies and plants, a new way of setting up your plant defences, and leaderboards.

Popcap says Plants vs. Zombies Adventure is the first of "several" adaptations of the original tower defence game coming in the next year.
